No, you do not need your own Apple iPhone Developer Account IF you are planning on offering your app at no charge (a free app). Apple does not permit us to pay you a royalty from apps in OUR account.

If you want to charge money for your app, you can but you WILL NEED your own iPhone Developer account and there is an additional $50 fee that will need to be paid to an independent 3rd party for configuration of the app for use in your account.
